Legal Training and experience

1996 - LL.B - Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

1996 - 1997 - Internship at a private law firm in Jerusalem, specializing in civil and municipal law.

1997 - Admission to the Israel Bar Association.

1997 - 2001 - After completion of the internship period, continued work as a lawyer at the same private firm.

2001 - 2005 - Legal team member at “Tefahot – Israel Mortgage Bank Ltd”, then Israel’s leading mortgage bank, specializing in real estate (private and commercial), banking and insolvency, contracts, tenders, property law, and civil litigation.

2001-2003 - Teaching assistant on property law at the Herzliya Interdisciplinary Center (IDC).

2005 - 2019 - Associate and later on (since 2009) partner at KPPS & Co. law firm:

  • Comprehensive legal counsel in every aspect of the client’s business, including international and domestic contracts; corporate governance; labor law; intellectual property issues; administrative and tender law. Positions in this capacity:

    • Chief legal advisor to a large educational tourism corporation.

    • Chief legal advisor to a nonprofit organization promoting community and philanthropic work in Israel and developing countries;

    • Chief legal advisor to a prominent research institute;​

    • Senior member of a legal team providing permanent counsel to an Israeli retail bank in the following fields: domestic and international banking laws and regulations, including FATCA, CRS and GDPR; vendor contracts (including cyber-technology and technological service providers); corporate governance; civil and commercial law.

2019 - Founder and owner - Assaf Niv Law Office; chief legal advisor to:

  • An educational tourism corporation;

  • A nonprofit organization promoting community and philanthropic work in Israel and developing countries;

  • A humanities and social sciences research institute;

  • An IT and technology services company specializing in services to 'third sector' organizations in Israel; 

  • A  PBC (public benefit company) promoting projects designed to enhance the understanding of the complex political challenges and realities faced by the State of Israel amond communities worldwide.

Public Positions

  • 1999 - 2017 - Member of the Israel Bar Association Jerusalem District Committee and Ethics Committee, member of the National Council (the national elected delegate body) and vice-chairman and member of the National Ethics Committee, reviewing hundreds of complaint files, some of which led to the setting of precedents.

Additional qualifications

2011 - Mediation and ADR course - Tel-Aviv University.

2017 - Notary public.

2019 - Training course for Compliance Officers, by BDO Financial Academy

Languages

Fluent in Hebrew and English; certified translator from Arabic to Hebrew.
